What happened between Alexey (DaFuqBoom) and Invisible Narratives?
Alexey Gerasimov (DaFuqBoom) wrote, animated, and released the Skibidi Toilet series himself until late 2025. Invisible Narratives originally gained control of the IP through an initial “revocable” agreement with Alexey in 2023, giving Invisible the exclusive ability to use and enforce the IP. An arrangement seemingly built on Alexey’s early trust of Invisible, and promises of a movie franchise which have yet to take shape.
Invisible initially focused primarily on merchandise, brand deals, and IP enforcement. Fan creators received copyright strikes and claims, and were simultaneously moved into “Creator Alliance” MCN agreements with Invisible. The permanent 2025 sale took place amid what the available evidence suggests were mounting financial and production pressures on Alexey. In DMs Alexey had sent to community members in 2025, Alexey mentioned feeling “trapped”, “lied to” and “scammed”. He also specified that it was not fans that weighed him down, but “who I work with”. Notably, Alexey mentioned not being “paid out” and being “almost broke” before the 2025 sale. Since the 2025 sale took place, Alexey is now contractually limited in what he can say publicly. Meanwhile, Invisible presents selected private business message excerpts from Alexey as evidence for themselves, while Alexey’s own communications and creator testimony suggest a much more pressured and complicated situation.
The community has only been able to hear from Invisible directly on this matter, Alexey remains unable to freely respond, clarify, or provide full context.
Who owns Skibidi Toilet?
Invisible Narratives currently owns the franchise, IP, characters, episodes, and the channel. The original creator Alexey Gerasimov (DaFuqBoom) transferred the IP rights in October 2023 under a ‘revocable’ deal, and the deal became permanent in Fall 2025.
Alexey’s current role is listed as “Executive Producer” by Invisible – however Invisible now say the two are “not currently collaborating.”
Is Alexey silenced/gagged right now?
Alexey is restricted from publicly commenting about the situation regarding Invisible and Skibidi Toilet, yes. Evidence suggests a confidentiality and non-disparagement clause in his latest 2025 agreement which prevents Alexey speaking out about what’s happening with Invisible Narratives, Skibidi Toilet, or his contract. Invisible Narratives state that “mutual confidentiality obligations” exist. Alexey said in an email “I can’t comment on Strider’s Involvement with Skibidi Toilet or any projects related to Invisible Narratives”. Rolling Stone reports that Gerasimov and Inviz must “speak with one voice about the franchise,” and that there are confidentiality clauses in place. Steven Asarch, after interviewing both parties, said his interview with Alexey would be unlikely to ever “see the light of day”, and that Alexey “is not allowed to publicly speak on Invisible Narratives, Skibidi Toilet, or his contract.” During a stream, MoistCr1tikal said, when asked about a recent private conversation he had with Alexey, “I don’t think there’s really anything I can share about that call I had him with him outside of what’s already publicly available. I don’t want him to get in trouble”.
Outside of the situation regarding Skibidi Toilet and Invisible Narratives, there is no evidence to suggest Alexey can’t talk casually or about unrelated things, as he has demonstrated after posting on X and chatting in emails.
After Invisible Narratives made multiple statements and leaked Alexey’s messages without his permission, #LetBoomSpeak is a request for both sides to have an equal platform to give their own context and explain the situation surrounding Skibidi Toilet.
Did Alexey give a statement to IGN?
Not directly. Evidence suggests the IGN article statement attributed to Alexey was a pre-approved statement written by Invisible in advance, not by Alexey himself. Alexey flagged this dynamic privately to Adam Goodman the day before this IGN statement was published, which surfaced months later when Invisible leaked excerpts of private business communications from Alexey.
Alexey remains unable to directly clarify.
Did Invisible Narratives leak Alexey’s private messages?
Yes, in their April statement, Invisible Narratives leaked select excerpts from Alexey Gerasimov’s real private business conversations with Adam Goodman and other members of Invisible Narratives. These excerpts were taken from various conversations covering sale of the IP, copyright enforcement, and arguments surrounding Alexey not saying he’s fine.
Despite these leaks from Invisible, Alexey remains contractually restricted from commenting, providing his own material in response or giving clarification and context.
Is Alexey still animating Skibidi Toilet?
No. A new 4 person team of fan animators/creators are animating and writing the next episodes, hired under Invisible Narratives. Alexey has said he has “not been in contact [with Strider] for some time” and is “not collaborating with him”. Invisible itself says about Alexey, “the parties are not currently collaborating on new Skibidi Toilet content” as quoted by Rolling Stone.
Did Invisible Narratives “steal” Skibidi Toilet?
There’s no evidence to suggest Invisible “illegally” seized the IP by force in a cartoonish fashion, the sale itself appears to have been agreed to by Alexey. The concern is that the process and sale took place amid serious financial and production pressures that complicate the simplified “he signed it” narrative.
Evidence suggests Alexey faced pressures leading up to the sale – including saying he was not being “paid out” on earnings he was owed beforehand. “Steal” is often used colloquially by individuals across the community as a shorthand for this nuance. While Alexey said he wasn’t being “paid out” under the 2023 arrangement, here’s no evidence he wasn’t paid for or after the 2025 sale. Invisible say he was paid.
Alexey remains contractually unable to comment on the sale, or clarify the circumstances in which this took place.
Alexey said he was “almost broke”, is he?
This was said prior to the 2025 sale. In DMs with creators, Alexey referenced being “almost broke” and not being “paid out” on earnings, which occurred within the period before the 2025 sale.
The “almost broke” framing he used therefore applies to that period, money he was owed but hadn’t been paid, prior to the sale – not to the sale itself or after. Notably, this applies to the period where the 2025 sale would have been negotiated, adding to concerns of pressure. We have no comment from Alexey as to the conditions after the 2025 sale.
There’s no evidence suggesting Alexey wasn’t paid for the 2025 sale, and Invisible say he was paid. Alexey remains unable to comment or clarify.
Did Invisible Narratives issue copyright strikes to fan creators?
Yes. There’s evidence of actual takedowns and strikes on channels in 2024, not just copyright claims. Copyright strike activity under Invisible’s name also targeted critics in April 2026, sent via a third party copyright enforcement company.
Invisible had not confirmed nor denied the 2026 strikes after being prompted for comment by community members. They later confirmed that these strikes were part of an “ongoing IP protection strategy” in a statement to Rolling Stone.
Did Alexey approve of copyright strikes against fan creators?
Evidence leaked by Invisible suggests Alexey gave Invisible discretion over copyright enforcement in early 2024 saying that if Invisible “think it would be better for the brand and wont hurt IP, I trust you completely on this”.
There is no evidence he approved every later strike, the observed Creator Alliance pressure, or the way fan creators were routed toward contracts. Invisible did not provide any information about how enforcement, whitelists, or copyright action worked prior, what led to this message, or what happened subsequently.
Despite these leaks from Invisible, Alexey remains unable to provide context and clarify his intentions.
What is the “Creator Alliance”?
The Creator Alliance is a YouTube creator partnership/MCN run by Invisible Narratives, where selected Skibidi creators could keep making Skibidi-related content with official permission. Membership often involved contracts, CMS access, revenue share, with creator earnings flowing through Invisible – members have promotional obligations, and restrictions depending on the agreement.
Is Michael Bay making a Skibidi Toilet movie?
Invisible Narratives insists Michael Bay is still involved on a project, while other sources suggest he may no longer be involved. Regardless, evidence only suggests that a “small short” and/or “film test” has been worked on thus far.
Did Alexey want to stop making Skibidi Toilet entirely?
Alexey remains unable to comment directly on this situation, thus his motives and feelings remain unknown.
Evidence suggests Alexey grew unhappy with Invisible for various reasons, resulting in a breakdown of the relationship with Invisible which made things unable to progress as intended. Among many other things, Alexey has reportedly liked posts, and left hints in profile imagery, which may suggest a dislike of the recent direction from Invisible. While it’s reasonable to expect that Alexey wanted a holiday or break – there’s no evidence Alexey wanted to permanently cut ties with Skibidi Toilet as a creative project for personal reasons independent of any outside influence or pressure.
Doesn’t Valve own the assets?
Only the base models and assets. Valve does not own the Skibidi Toilet characters, stories, or animations. These were created by Alexey and are now owned by Invisible Narratives. Valve allows use of their assets on YouTube under their Video Policy.
